Local AI Signal
Data methodology
Last updated July 15, 2026
Local AI Signal tracks how often local businesses are mentioned and recommended in responses from major AI assistants. This page explains how we collect data and calculate your score.
How we collect results
Every result is labeled with one of the following check methods:
- Automatically checked — collected via an official AI provider API.
- Manually entered — entered by you, your team, or an administrator.
- Screenshot verified — supported by an uploaded screenshot of the response.
- Estimated — an estimate based on similar responses; not verified.
- Demo data — sample data used for demonstration only.
We never present estimated or demo data as verified.
How the AI Visibility Score is calculated
The score ranges from 0 to 100 and combines the following signals:
- Mention rate — 30%
- Recommendation rate — 25%
- Average position — 15%
- Competitive share of voice — 15%
- Sentiment — 10%
- Platform coverage and data freshness — 5%
These weights can be tuned over time. The score is created by Local AI Signal and is not an official metric from ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or any platform.
Model transparency
We store the exact model name used for every automated result so you can see whether an answer came from a specific version of ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude.
